UK Bus

Our UK Bus services operate in both urban and rural areas. From heavily populated city centres in places like Liverpool, Leeds, Leicester, Glasgow and Newcastle, to more rural locations like North Wales, we provide important links that keep communities moving.

We have over 20,000 employees and 7,000 buses but sometimes, it's difficult to appreciate just how large and complex our operations are. So let's put it this way: the people who clean our UK Bus fleet use 13,000 litres of disinfectant, 32,000 mop heads and enough cleaning cloths to stretch from Lands End to John O'Groats and back again. And that's every year.

Our bus services are distinguished by a real commitment to investment and continuous improvement. Investment means that we are upgrading and adding to our bus fleet as well as enhancing and expanding our depots. We are focused on developing new business and attracting more customers. We're also winning awards: most notably for our high standards of safety.

At Arriva we value our employees and the contribution that they make. From our drivers - all of whom will be supported to achieve their Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) by 2013 - through to our managers, we believe in giving people the encouragement and practical resources they need to fulfil their potential.

London Bus

Transport requirements for London make it a unique city. The huge population means getting around can be a major challenge. At the same time, life in the city is fast-paced and the culture is genuinely 24-hour. There is a multitude of travel options, from the Tube to buses, from cabs to cross-city overland trains. Add in a commitment to tackling transport issues with innovative measures like the Congestion Charge, and you can see why London is so unusual.

Arriva is one of the largest bus operators in London, providing nearly 20 per cent of the total red London bus operations. We also operate the prestigious 'Original Tour' open-top bus tours. This breadth of services puts us at the forefront of one of the most innovative transport strategies you will find anywhere. Our goal is to provide services that help form the backbone of the public transport network and provide a real option to cars. At the same time, we want to be part of a pioneer approach, working with authorities to explore innovations, new approaches and emerging technologies.

We have 16 operational sites in the Greater London area, over 1,500 buses and around 5,000 people. Transport issues change and develop quickly here, so you can expect early responsibility, room to stretch yourself and plenty of opportunities to show what you can do. On the other hand, we place great emphasis on giving our people exceptional training and support too.
