Arriva Scandinavia was established in 2000 and includes Denmark and Sweden. In 2005 a new Headquarters for Scandinavia opened in Copenhagen. From here the supporting functions work to assist our operations who have a strong local focus. Today Arriva Scandinavia operates as one company in two counties with a common objective, to be the preferred provider of passenger transport.

In Scandinavia we are divided into seven different regions, two in Sweden and five in Demark. In Denmark, Arriva is the largest provider of services in the bus market. In Sweden we are smaller but developing! In total we operate over 2000 buses and employ almost 5,000 people. In both Sweden and Denmark we have training centres to educate new, professional drivers for the whole of the industry.

Arriva was the first private company to win franchises to operate rail passenger services in Denmark and since 5th January 2003 we have operated trains in mid and north Jutland and we are competitive in the industry. Since the summer of 2003 Arriva have received a bonus for delivering good service, and it keeps improving. Since 2004 we have operated with new trains and with these we transport 6.2 million Danes across the country every year.

Arriva entered the Swedish rail market in February 2006 when we won a nine year contract to operate the Pågåtåg regional train service in the Skane region of southern Sweden.

The nine year contract, which has a two year extension option, will generate approximately £15 million revenue per year (200 million SEK) for the company. Revenue is expected to grow in line with Skånetrafikken's plans to expand the contract services.

Arriva also operate 26 Litra X11 trains on a four million kilometre network serving 47 stations in southern Sweden.
