Dave Britton
Journey: Engineering Management, UK Bus Destination: Engineering Manager, Arriva MidlandsExperience Dave's JourneyDealing with unions was a new and challenging experience. When a merger led to the closure of a local depot, I worked with a union representative to help the transition go a lot smoother. It was very rewarding, and I’m really proud of the result.
Your destination
Your career at Arriva can take you wherever you want to go as a future leader of the Arriva business.
By the end of the 18 month programme you will be in a position of significant responsibility. For some of you, that might be as an Assistant Engineering Manager. For others, it may even be Engineering Manager level. Whatever the role, this will be your first chance to really prove your worth.
From there, the sky's the limit. If you are willing to take advantages of new oppportunities and your performance levels are excellent, then you could make it to a Regional or Area Engineering Manager position within 3 to 5 years of completing your programme. Within 7 years, you should be in a position of senior management and well on your way to becoming the next Arriva Engineering Director.
