The first stage of your application is an online form. Once this is completed and submitted, you can track its status on the website - simply go to the application login page after you have submitted your form and enter your email and password. You can view at which stage in our process your application is.

The next stage is an assessment event. You will be assessed only against set competencies and will not be competing against other candidates attending the assessment event with you.

The final stage will be an interview within the relevant business, and assuming all goes well then we will make an offer to you to join the Arriva graduate programme.

Below you will find some hints and tips to help you make the best of your application.

Things to do in advance

  • Look at our corporate website and our learning and development site.
  • Speak to Careers Advisors, family, friends and tutors for advice.
  • Think about what you know of our industry and why you would like a career in transport with Arriva.
  • Read trade press and relevant magazines so you can form opinions.

Hints and tips

  • We will contact you mainly by email, so provide us with an address you use regularly.
  • When you contact us, use plain English. Txt English is fine if you are sending a quick message to friends, but during the application process be clear, articulate and accurate.
  • Spell check everything you do.

Filling in the form

  • We'd like you to apply online. You can save your work and come back to it, so you don't have to fill it in all at once. We're not testing your endurance levels.
  • Think about and plan your answers to each question. Make sure you complete all sections of the form and double-check it.
  • Don't forget to save your own copy. If you are invited to an assessment event, you will need to know what you wrote.
  • We're interested in everything you've done that you are proud of. So don't neglect your non-academic achievements.
  • Always try and provide examples to substantiate your claims.

On the day

  • Read the advice here and make sure you are thoroughly prepared.
  • Double-check the time, date and venue.
  • If you can't attend, let us know. We may be able to re-schedule.
  • Think about some questions you might want to ask during the day.
  • Remember: we've invited you because we want to meet you, not because we want to catch you out. Just be yourself.
